I.             Curriculum Change and College Entry Requirements:

Students who wish to transfer to the College of Business from CAS, COH, or RCEAS to pursue a B.S. in Business and Economics may do so provided they have achieved the following:

University Curriculum Change Requirements (applies to all curriculum changes at Lehigh):

  • In good academic standing with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 at Lehigh University.
  • Completion of at least 12 credits in their college of matriculation at Lehigh University.
  • Sophomore standing (24 credits completed).

College of Business Entry Requirements:

  • Successful completion (with minimum grades of C-) of ECO 001 and MATH 081 or 021. Courses considered equivalent to these courses will also satisfy the requirement, such as approved transfer credit (including AP courses), or the successful completion of (MATH 075 and 076) or MATH 031, which are equivalent to MATH 021 (MATH 051 & 052 will not satisfy this entry requirement).

Signed petitions from the sending college / program will be accepted via email at businessundergrad@lehigh.edu when all curriculum change and entry requirements are completed and/or in progress as reflected on Degree Audit. Petitions that cannot satisfy the requirements to switch during the approaching deadline and review period will not be accepted.

II.          Steps to Make the Transfer:

1. For undergraduates in the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), College of Health (COH), or the P.C. Rossin College of Engineering and Applied Science (RCEAS), the first step in the B.S. in Business and Economics college change exploration process is to view the recorded information session:

2. Connect with the Associate Dean or designee of your current program ahead of the College of Business April 1st or November 1st petition submission deadline with enough time to obtain their signature on your completed Petition to Change Colleges:

Arts and Sciences:

Associate Dean Kelly Austin

For questions or to submit your Petition to Change Colleges, email inadvise@lehigh.edu.

Engineering:

Associate Dean Sabrina Jedlicka

For meeting, contact Robin Armbruster

rma2@lehigh.edu

Health:

Associate Dean Michael Gusmano

For questions or to submit your Petition to Change Colleges, email Jennifer Topp at cohadvising@lehigh.edu.

Petitions for the April 1 or November 1 submission deadline will be accepted via businessundergrad@lehigh.edu until the end of that business day (11:59pm), or until the end of first business day following that date, if April 1 or November 1 falls on a weekend / holiday. Petitions received afterward will be held for review at the next submission deadline.

3. Once signed by the sending college / program, your petition will be forwarded to the College of Business Undergraduate Programs Office directly by your current Undergraduate Office, cc'ing you on the message. Await email confirmation that the petition was received.

4. Attend an optional Business Advising session or watch the recording.  This session provides strategies on how to select recommended courses for your first semester in the College of Business.  The live session includes time for Q&A with a current BSBU advisor. Students with pending petitions will receive the session recording via email - to request a link to the recording, please email businessundergrad@lehigh.edu.

5. Once curriculum change and College of Business entry requirements are verified, the Undergraduate Programs Office in the College of Business will ensure a timely processing of your Petition to Change Colleges.

If you have met all curriculum change and entry requirements at the time of your petition submission, your petition will be processed shortly after the April 1st or November 1st deadline and you will be able to participate in the approaching registration window as a Business student with your assigned registration group (as determined by RAS).

If you need to complete credits, specific courses, or improve your GPA in order to satisfy curriculum change or entry requirements, your petition will be reviewed again and processed at the end of the fall or spring term, after grades are posted for that semester, if you achieve the necessary marks. This means you will not be able to schedule Business-restricted courses during the first week of registration, but you would be able to add yourself to open seats in these courses after the petition has officially processed and your degree program has been updated in Banner. If you have questions please email businessundergrad@lehigh.edu.

Petitions held until the end of the fall or spring term for review can be denied if in-progress curriculum change and/or entry requirements were not satisfied by the grades earned in that term.

III.          Deadlines:

November 1: For students who will have completed all curriculum change and entry requirements at the end of the Fall term (Spring Admission)

April 1: For students who will have completed all curriculum change and entry requirements at the end of the spring term (Summer Admission)

Applying to the Computer Science and Business (CSB) Honors Program

As of November 2, 2022, the Computer Science and Business degree program has shifted to an annual application-based process near the conclusion of the Spring term. Current Lehigh students applying to join CSB will only be accepted into the program as space permits. Students with previously submitted petitions pending fall grades from the Nov. 1, 2022 deadline will be processed as Petitions to Change Colleges once grades post.

Students applying to join the program after Nov. 1, 2022, must demonstrate a cumulative 3.25 GPA, and must earn a B- or better in ECO 001 AND CSE 007 AND (MATH 021 OR MATH 031 OR MATH 076) and have satisfied all requirements to change their curriculum at Lehigh by the end of the Spring term in which they applying: https://catalog.lehigh.edu/undergraduatestudies/curricularflexibility/

Applications are due between Jan. 1 and May 15. Applications will be reviewed and considered at the end of May (once Spring grades are posted) and are dependent on space available in the program. Scheduled or anticipated Summer or Fall coursework cannot be used to satisfy these requirements.

Due to impacts on graduation timeline, applications to join CSB are not recommended beyond a student's second year of study at Lehigh.

For additional information, please schedule an appointment with CSB Academic Advisor, Andrea Goff, (ahg212@lehigh.edu).

Applying to the Intergrated Business and Engineering (IBE) Honors Program

It is possible that a small number of exceptional students may be admitted to the program following the completion of their freshman year. Admission at this point would be highly competitive and based upon freshman year GPA, faculty recommendations, and space availability.  The IBE Program will not consider transfers beyond the end of a student's first year. If interested, reach out to co-director Professor Bob Storer at rhs2@lehigh.edu for more details.
